In January, Germany experienced a slight decrease in its annual inflation rate, moving from 2.6% in December to 2.3%. This information was confirmed by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) in its final report, aligning with the preliminary estimate.

Consumer Price Index and Harmonized Consumer Price Index Insights

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) showed a monthly decline of 0.2%. Meanwhile, the Harmonized Consumer Price Index (HCPI), which excludes food and energy, saw an annual increase of 2.8% but a monthly decrease of 0.2%. These figures remained consistent with the preliminary report.

Energy and Food Prices Trends

Energy product prices experienced a decrease of 1.6% compared to January 2024. Conversely, food prices saw an increase of 0.8% in the same period.
