EU's Firm Stance Against US Tariffs
Under the Polish Presidency, the Council of the European Union has highlighted the collective determination of its member states to shield the bloc's steel and aluminum industries from any threats of market instability.

"The unity and resolve of Member States are clear; we are committed to safeguarding the EU's steel and aluminum sectors against potential market disruptions. The European Commission will have our full support to act decisively and respond appropriately when necessary. Our aim remains to foster a positive collaboration with the US, working together to eliminate barriers in the transatlantic market and enhance economic security," stated the presidency.
US Tariff Adjustments
Recent actions by US President Donald Trump have escalated the tariff on aluminum imports to 25%, up from 10%, and revoked country-specific exemptions. Similarly, steel import tariffs have been increased to 25%. These adjustments are scheduled to take effect on March 4.
