India's Rapid AI Adoption Surpasses Global Average
India is at the forefront of artificial intelligence (AI) adoption, with 65% of its population using AI technologies. This figure is more than double the global average of 31%, according to Microsoft's latest Global Online Safety survey.

Millennials Lead the AI Revolution
The survey highlights a significant 26% increase in AI adoption in India since 2023, with millennials aged 25-44 leading the charge. An impressive 84% of this demographic utilizes AI tools for various purposes including translations, answering questions, enhancing workplace efficiency, and aiding students with their schoolwork.
Awareness and Concerns Grow Alongside AI Use
As AI becomes more integrated into daily life, Indian parents are becoming more aware of digital challenges, indicating a shift towards more cautious AI engagement. However, concerns such as deepfakes, scams, and AI hallucinations persist. The study found that over 80% of respondents are worried about AI usage for children under 18 years.
Online Abuse: A Pressing Concern
Online abuse emerges as a top concern, with more than 80% of Indian teens reporting experiences of online risk. This underscores the urgent need for creating safer digital environments for young users.
The survey, conducted between 19 July and 9 August 2024, included responses from 15,000 teenagers and adults across 15 countries, offering a comprehensive view of global AI adoption and its implications.
