According to the latest report from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), Tesla Inc. experienced a significant downturn in its electric vehicle sales within China this January. The company reported 63,238 units sold, marking an 11.5% decrease compared to the same period last year.

In contrast, Tesla's local competitor, BYD, showcased a remarkable performance with 296,446 vehicles delivered in January. This figure represents a 47.5% increase from January 2023, despite a 41.8% decrease from the previous month.

Further analysis by the CPCA reveals that the deliveries of Tesla's China-made Model 3 and Model Y experienced a 32.6% decrease month-over-month, highlighting the challenges Tesla faces in the competitive Chinese market.
