Significant Decrease in US Natural Gas Inventories
In a recent report released by the Energy Information Administration (EIA), it was revealed that the United States has seen a substantial decrease in its natural gas inventories. Specifically, the working natural gas in storage across the nation decreased by 174 billion cubic feet (Bcf) during the week ending January 31, bringing the total to 2,397 Bcf.
Year-on-Year and Five-Year Average Comparisons
When compared to the same period last year, the stockpiles have declined by 8%, or 208 Bcf. Furthermore, in comparison to the five-year average of 2,508 Bcf, the current figures show a decrease of 4.4%, or 111 Bcf. Despite these declines, the total working gas remains within the five-year historical range, indicating a relatively stable supply situation.
