India's Next Step in Energy Storage: A 10GWh Leap
NEW DELHI: In a significant move towards bolstering its energy storage capabilities, the Ministry of Heavy Industries is poised to initiate the bidding process for the production of advanced chemistry cell (ACC) battery storage with a capacity of 10 gigawatt-hours (GWh). This initiative is part of the government's broader strategy to advance projects under the Rs 18,100 crore Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, aiming to achieve up to 50 kWh capacity.
Previous Successes: The first two rounds of this ambitious scheme have already awarded projects totaling 40GWh to leading companies such as ACC Energy Storage, Ola Cell Tech, Reliance New Energy Battery Storage, and Reliance Industries, marking a pivotal moment in India's journey towards energy self-sufficiency and sustainability.
