Volkswagen Calls for Negotiations to Avert Trade Conflict
In response to the recent imposition of new tariffs by US President Donald Trump on imports from Mexico, Canada, and China, Volkswagen is advocating for negotiations to prevent a trade conflict. The German automaker, which heavily depends on its Puebla, Mexico plant for exports to the US, has expressed concerns over potential disruptions to its supply chain and competitiveness.
"We are currently evaluating the potential impacts on the automotive industry and our company," stated Volkswagen. The company emphasized its hope for "constructive talks" to maintain economic stability.
German Auto Industry Warns of Job Losses
The German car lobby VDA has labeled the tariffs as a significant setback for global trade, cautioning against possible job losses in Germany and Europe. As tensions escalate, the auto industry is preparing for potential retaliatory measures.
