Indonesian Man Faces Charges for Attempting to Deposit $7,400 in Counterfeit Singapore Dollars

Attempted Deposit Leads to Arrest

Chandra Ahmadyani, a 36-year-old Indonesian man, found himself in legal trouble after attempting to deposit $7,400 in counterfeit Singapore dollars into his bank account at the Hong Lim housing complex on December 23. The bank employee, suspicious of the money's authenticity, reported the incident to the manager, leading to Chandra's subsequent arrest.

Legal Proceedings Underway

Investigators have reasons to believe that Chandra was aware the money was counterfeit. He was offered bail set at SGD20,000 and has indicated his intention to plead guilty. The case is scheduled for a hearing on March 6, where the final verdict will be determined.
