BYD Announces Strategic Expansion into Japan with New Plug-in Hybrid
In a bold move to capture the Japanese market, Chinese automaker BYD has announced plans to launch its first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) in Japan by 2025. This initiative is part of BYD's broader strategy to introduce seven to eight new models in Japan by 2027, starting with the Sealion 7 electric crossover in April.
Liu Xueliang, BYD Asia Pacific's general manager, emphasized the company's commitment to innovation and technology at a business strategy meeting in Tokyo. "At least one new model, including EVs and PHEVs, will be introduced each year to showcase our advanced technologies," Liu stated, highlighting BYD's ambition to become a key player in Japan's competitive auto market.
