UK's Role in US Trade Deficit Under Scrutiny
In a recent interview with CNBC at the World Economic Forum in Davos, British Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves addressed the ongoing concerns of US President Donald Trump regarding the US trade deficit. Reeves firmly stated that the United Kingdom does not contribute to this issue.
"I understand President Trump's concerns about countries with large and persistent trade surpluses with the US. However, the UK is not part of this problem. In fact, during President Trump's previous term, trade between the UK and the US increased," Reeves explained.
