Spain's Treasury Shatters Records with €140 Billion Demand for 10-Year Bond
In an unprecedented show of confidence, Spain's Treasury announced on Wednesday that its latest 10-year syndicated bond issue has attracted a staggering €140 billion in demand. This monumental figure not only matches the record-high interest observed in 2024 but also marks the largest issuance of the year.
Thanks to the overwhelming investor interest, the Treasury was able to reduce the bond's initial yield spread by three to five basis points compared to the current 10-year benchmark. This adjustment underscores the strong market confidence in Spain's economic stability and fiscal health.
Carlos Cuerpo, the Minister of Economy, emphasized the significance of this achievement. "The exceptional turnout of high-quality investors is a testament to the Treasury's robust access to financial markets and the international community's trust in Spain's economic policies," Cuerpo stated.
