StanChart CEO: Trump's Return to Affect Global Trade
Bill Winters, CEO of Standard Chartered Bank, shared his insights on the potential impacts of Donald Trump's return to the presidency on global trade. Speaking at a World Economic Forum panel, Winters predicted "interesting ructions" as the new administration settles in.
"We'll see what comes through in terms of tariffs and reconciliation. China, with its massive export surplus, will likely face challenges from around the globe," Winters elaborated. He emphasized that while globalization is not reversing, it is undergoing a fundamental transformation. Despite these changes, Winters remains optimistic about the growth of trade volumes, stating, "Trade volumes are going up and continue to go up."
