HYDERABAD: A Leap Towards Sustainable Mobility
Olectra Greentech Limited (OGL), a subsidiary of the Hyderabad-based Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd (MEIL), has taken a significant step forward in the electric vehicle (EV) sector. The company recently launched its latest models equipped with the innovative blade battery technology at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in New Delhi.
Blade Battery Technology: A Game-Changer
The spotlight was on the new blade battery chassis, a re-designed 12-meter blade battery platform, and newly styled nine-meter city and 12-meter coach e-buses. Developed by Chinese auto maker BYD, the blade battery has passed rigorous tests, including nail penetration and furnace trials, without any fire or explosion. This technology offers 30% more energy storage, enabling buses to travel up to 500 km on a single charge. Its compact and lightweight design not only improves space efficiency but also enhances vehicle stability.
Commitment to Innovation and Sustainability
KV Pradeep, Olectra Greentech's chairman and managing director, shared the company's journey from an initial order of six electric buses to a monumental milestone of 5,150 e-buses. "Our focus continues on increasing our manufacturing and enhancing our technology capabilities," Pradeep stated, emphasizing the company's dedication to transforming the transportation sector into a cleaner, more sustainable industry.
Olectra's buses, manufactured in Hyderabad, are now operational in 10 states and one Union territory, marking a significant impact on reducing emissions and promoting green mobility.
