In Vietnam, the average housing space per person stands at 26.6 square meters, a figure that reflects the country's ongoing urban development and housing policies. A significant portion of the population, approximately 41.9%, enjoys living spaces of 30 square meters or more per person, indicating a trend towards more spacious living conditions.

The Current Housing Situation

However, the housing situation is not uniform across the country. Around 4.1% of the population still resides in homes where the living space is limited to just eight square meters per person. This disparity highlights the challenges faced by some segments of the population in accessing adequate housing.

Modern Living Spaces

The majority of Vietnamese people, 81.5%, live in homes constructed in the year 2000 or later, showcasing the country's rapid modernization and the shift towards newer, more comfortable living environments. Despite this progress, a small percentage, 1.9%, continues to live in dwellings that are 49 years old or more, underscoring the need for continued investment in housing infrastructure.

Future Goals

Vietnam has set an ambitious target to increase the average housing floor area per person to 27 square meters this year, a goal that reflects the government's commitment to improving living standards for its citizens. This initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure that all Vietnamese people have access to safe, comfortable, and adequate housing.
