NEW DELHI: The wholesale price index (WPI) witnessed a significant rise, reaching an annual rate of 2.4% in December, up from 1.9% in November. This increase is attributed to higher prices of manufactured products and non-food items, despite some signs of easing price pressures.

Food and Vegetable Prices Remain High

Food articles inflation slightly decreased to 8.5% in December from 9.3% the previous year. However, vegetable inflation remained high at 28.7%, with potato prices skyrocketing by 93.2% compared to a 24.6% contraction last year.

Manufactured Products See Price Increase

Prices of manufactured products rose by 2.1% annually in December, a notable shift from a 0.8% contraction previously. This indicates a persistent pressure on prices across various sectors.
