Following the release of December's foreign trade report by the General Administration of Customs, major stock indexes across the Asia-Pacific region experienced a downturn. Investors are also keenly awaiting the fourth-quarter financial results of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited (TSMC), which are set to be announced later this week.

Market Performance Across the Region

At 7:17 am CET, South Korea's Kospi Composite saw a decrease of 1.18%, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng dropped by 1.12%. The Shanghai Composite on the Chinese mainland was down by 0.60%, and the Shenzhen Composite decreased by 0.34% at 7:16 am CET. Meanwhile, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 closed lower by 1.23%. Markets in Japan remained closed in observance of Old Age Day.
