On Friday morning, a Delta Airlines flight was forced to abort its takeoff at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, leading to an emergency evacuation of all passengers on the tarmac. The incident resulted in injuries to four individuals, as reported by the airport authorities on X.

Passenger Accounts and Response

According to a passenger's account to CNN, the Boeing 757's engine 'caught fire' after an issue arose during the takeoff process. The flight, carrying 201 passengers along with two pilots and five flight attendants, saw four passengers sustain minor injuries. One of the injured was transported to a hospital, while the others received treatment on the scene. The takeoff was aborted at 9:10 am ET.

Delta's Statement on Weather Conditions

Delta Airlines addressed the situation, citing 'worse-than-expected' winter weather conditions across the Southeast as a contributing factor. The airline canceled approximately 500 Delta and Delta Connection flights for the day. 'Delta is collaborating with all aviation stakeholders to safely reopen runways and resume operations at ATL,' the company stated.
