Technical Issues Prompt Deadline Extension
In response to reported technical glitches within the GSTN system, the government has announced an extension for filing monthly GST sales return form GSTR-1 and GST payment deadlines. This move aims to accommodate taxpayers affected by the system's issues.
New Deadlines Announced
According to a notification by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), the deadline for filing GSTR-1 for December has been pushed to January 13. For those under the QRMP scheme for the October-December period, the deadline is now January 15. Additionally, the GST payment deadline via GSTR-3B for December has been extended to January 22, with further extensions for quarterly taxpayers depending on their state registration.
System Maintenance Underway
GST Network has acknowledged the technical difficulties, stating that the GST portal is currently under maintenance with expectations to be operational by noon. An incident report has been submitted to CBIC, requesting an extension for the filing date of GST sales return or GSTR-1 due to these ongoing issues.
