In a significant step towards modernizing its fleet, Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) recently celebrated the arrival of its inaugural A330-900 (A330neo) aircraft. The event took place at Hangar 6, MAB Engineering Complex in Kuala Lumpur airport, marking a pivotal moment in MAG’s fleet modernization strategy.

Launch Ceremony Attended by Key Figures

The aircraft, registered as 9M-MNG, was officially presented by Transport Minister Loke Siew Fook, alongside Dato' Amirul Feisal Wan Zahir, Managing Director of Khazanah Nasional Berhad, and Datuk Captain Izham Ismail, MAG's Group Managing Director. The first flight to Melbourne, MH149, is scheduled for 10:30pm local time, with plans to serve various long-haul Australasian routes.

Advanced Features and Future Plans

The A330neo, part of a 20-aircraft acquisition due by 2028, is equipped with Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines and achieves 14% better fuel efficiency. It features 297 seats, advanced entertainment options, and complimentary Wi-Fi. MAG also announced a partnership with Mercedes-Benz for premium terminal transfers starting January 2025, utilizing electric and hybrid vehicles.
