In an unexpected turn of events, Japan's retail sales experienced a significant boost in November, increasing by 1.8% month-on-month to reach ¥14.2 trillion (~101.5 billion). This data, released by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, has caught the attention of investors and market analysts alike.
Year-on-Year Sales Value Climbs
Comparing to the previous year, the sales value saw an upward trend, marking a 2.8% increase. The total commercial sales value hit ¥52.6 trillion, with a 3.7% rise in the volume of goods sold compared to November 2023.
Wholesale Industry Also Shows Positive Signs
Additionally, the wholesale industry reported a seasonally adjusted sales value of ¥38.3 trillion, indicating a 4.0% increase year-on-year, further highlighting the positive momentum in Japan's economy.
