European Markets Open Higher on Tuesday
European stock markets experienced a positive start on Tuesday as investors carefully analyzed the latest GDP reports from the UK and Spain, along with the trade balance data from Italy, all of which were released yesterday.
Due to the holiday season, the trading hours for certain markets have been shortened. The FTSE and CAC 40 will close early today, at 13:30 and 14:05 respectively, while the Euro Stoxx 50 and the German DAX are not trading today. Markets in the UK, Germany, Spain, and France will remain closed on Wednesday and Thursday for the Christmas holiday.
At 9:00 am CET, the French CAC 40 was up by 0.34%, and the British FTSE 100 gained 0.30%.
In currency trading, the euro was down 0.13% against the dollar at 8:58 am CET, selling for $1.03926. Meanwhile, the pound sterling remained unchanged against the US currency, trading at $1.25347.
