Green Industry Performance Hits New Peak
The Ministry of Environment has announced that South Korea's green industry orders and exports have reached an unprecedented high of 22.7 trillion won this year. This remarkable achievement was revealed during the "Green Industry Council Performance Report" held at the Imperial Palace in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
This year's performance not only surpasses the target of 22 trillion won but also marks a significant increase of nearly 11% compared to last year's performance of 20.4966 trillion won. The surge in green industry orders and exports is largely attributed to the establishment of the Order Support Team last year, which has more than doubled the performance since its inception.
Key Achievements and Collaborative Efforts
Key achievements include securing orders and investments worth 16.4937 trillion won from 19 projects and achieving export performance worth 6.1693 trillion won from 602 companies. Notable projects contributing to this success include the water and sewage design project in Saudi Arabia by Kunhwa and the green hydrogen production project in Oman by Samsung C&T.
The ministry has closely collaborated with 73 council participating institutions this year, frequently holding one-on-one strategic meetings and identifying difficulties for each project. Customized support measures were established and provided to the governments and ordering parties of the counterpart countries. The Green Industry Order Support Team was dispatched 26 times to 16 countries, overseeing the entire process of project discovery, negotiation, order acquisition, and post-management alongside the industry.
Future Plans and Continuous Support
At the performance report meeting, the government and the industry discussed the continuous dispatch of the Order Support Team, frequent holding of strategic meetings, expansion of financial support, and investment in the Green Infrastructure Overseas Export Support Fund. A ministry official stated, "This is the result of cooperation and efforts with the industry as a one-team," adding, "We plan to continuously support budget assistance, investment expansion, and intergovernmental negotiations."
