Visa-Free Entry Boosts Bangkok's Air Traffic
Despite the introduction of visa-free entry, Bangkok's air traffic has not yet reached pre-pandemic levels. Airlines such as Thai AirAsiaX, Vietjet Thailand, and Air India Express have launched or added flights to Bangkok this winter, indicating a growing interest in the destination.
From Mumbai, airlines have scheduled 54 flights per week to Bangkok in December, a slight increase from last year but still below the 56 flights per week in December 2019. However, passenger volumes have shown improvement, with Indian tourist arrivals surpassing the pre-pandemic number of 1.96 million in 2019.
In comparison to Dubai, Bangkok's air traffic remains significantly lower. Airlines have scheduled 108 departures per week to Dubai from Mumbai, making it the busiest international route. The majority of passengers on Dubai flights are transit passengers flying onwards to Africa, Europe, and the US.
