Amazon Workers in NYC Authorize Strikes Over Union Recognition

Union Voting for Action

Amazon Teamsters at two key New York City warehouses, JFK8 and DBK4, have voted to authorize strikes. This follows the company's refusal to recognize their union and negotiate a contract.

Union Leadership's Stance

Sean M. O'Brien, Teamsters General President, expressed his frustration, "Amazon is pushing its workers closer to the picket line by failing to show them the respect they have earned." He further emphasized, "We've been clear: Amazon has until December 15 to come to the table and bargain for a contract. If these white-collar criminals want to keep breaking the law, they better get ready for a fight."

National Union Efforts

This local action mirrors a broader national trend, with Amazon employees at 10 sites across the country organizing with the Teamsters. Despite this, Amazon has persistently neglected its legal obligation to negotiate with its unionized workers.
