US Stocks See Mixed Open Following Unemployment and PPI Reports

Wall Street's Major Indexes Show Varied Performance at Open

US Stocks

On Thursday, the opening bell on Wall Street reflected a mixed performance among major stock indexes. This followed the release of the latest United States jobless figures, which revealed a rise in adjusted initial jobless claims by 17,000, and the Producer Price Index (PPI) report.

The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) opening bell was rung by President-elect Donald Trump, who was recently named Time Person of the Year for 2024.

The Dow Jones traded flat. In contrast, the Nasdaq 100 experienced a 0.54% slump, and the S&P 500 was down 0.21%. These declines were largely attributed to a 10.51% drop in Adobe Inc. on both indexes.

Meanwhile, the euro remained stable against the dollar, trading at $1.04895 at 9:26 am ET.
