Political Crisis Threatens to Prolong Korean Won Instability, Says BOK Governor

Bank of Korea Governor Expresses Concern Over Currency Stability

Bank of Korea (BOK) Governor Rhee Chang-yong recently stated that the Korean won is unlikely to stabilize and return to previous levels "for some time," citing the ongoing political crisis as a significant factor.

During a parliamentary strategy and finance committee meeting, Rhee noted, "It would be difficult to return to the levels seen in the past for some time. It is hard to say that the foreign exchange market has been stabilized, and investors are taking a wait-and-see posture."

The recent imposition of martial law by the President has ignited significant political turmoil. In response, the country's financial authorities have pledged to utilize all available resources to mitigate the impacts on both the economic and foreign exchange markets.
