Small Business Optimism Surges in November
According to a recent report by the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), small business optimism reached its highest point since June 2021 in November. The figure jumped by eight points, breaking the 34-month streak below the 50-year average of 98.
The net percentage of business owners anticipating economic improvement surged 41 points from October to a net 36%, marking the highest level since June 2020. Additionally, a net 14% of owners considered it a good time to expand their businesses, the most since June 2021, and more owners than in any month since February 2020 expect real sales volumes to increase.
NFIB Chief Economist Bill Dunkelberg attributed this surge in optimism to the election results, which signal a significant shift in economic policy. Owners are particularly hopeful for tax and regulation policies that favor robust economic growth and relief from inflationary pressures.
