Deputy PM Choi Reinforces Strong Ties with U.S. Treasury Secretary Yellen
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Choi Sang-mok held a significant video meeting with U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen on December 10th, reaffirming the robust economic and financial cooperation between South Korea and the United States. The meeting, which took place at the Government Complex in Seoul, saw Choi emphasizing the stable governance of the South Korean government.
Choi highlighted the smooth functioning of democratic procedures, public safety, and order in South Korea, stating, "Our economic system remains solid, and emergency response systems are functioning smoothly. We will continue to proactively respond to volatility in the financial and foreign exchange markets."
He also emphasized the importance of a tripartite emergency economic council involving the government, ruling party, and opposition parties for the smooth implementation of key economic policies. Secretary Yellen expressed her appreciation for the close communication and reaffirmed the strong Korea-U.S. alliance built on shared democratic values.
