Vietnam's National Assembly Approves Nuclear Power Project
In a significant decision, Vietnam's National Assembly has tasked the government with restarting the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Project in the central province. This move aims to diversify the country's energy sources, ensuring energy security and aligning with Vietnam's net zero targets by 2050.
The project, which involves two nuclear power plants in Ninh Thuan, has been meticulously studied by both domestic and international consultancies to ensure compliance with stringent global safety standards. The government has committed to utilizing the latest technologies and ensuring the highest safety measures to minimize risks to both humans and the environment.
As of August, there were 415 active energy power reactors globally, with an additional 62 under construction. Nuclear power currently accounts for around 10% of global energy production and is utilized by 32 countries, with 20 others considering its adoption.
