NCSoft Faces First Quarterly Operating Loss in a Decade Amidst Foreign Selling

NCSoft's Stock Plummets as Analysts Predict First Quarterly Loss in 10 Years

NCSoft's stock is experiencing a significant decline as projections from the securities industry indicate that the company will record a quarterly operating loss for the first time in a decade.

NCSoft will record a quarterly operating loss for the first time in 10 years.

As of 9:12 am on July 10, NCSoft is trading at 187,700 won (approximately $135.42), down 3,500 won, or -1.83 percent, from the previous trading day. Large sell orders are pouring in from foreign securities firms such as Merrill Lynch.

Earlier, SK Securities lowered its target price for NCSoft from 300,000 won to 270,000 won, forecasting an operating loss for the second quarter of this year.

SK Securities estimated NCSoft's second-quarter operating loss to be 6.3 billion won, which is lower than the market consensus of 1.6 billion won.

Nam Hyo-ji, a researcher at SK Securities, pointed out, "There were no new game releases in the second quarter, and sales continued to decline for existing games, except for 'Lineage M,' which had updates. The increased marketing expenses also contributed significantly to the cost burden."
