Kremlin Expresses Alarm Over South Korea's Martial Law
The Kremlin is closely monitoring the situation in South Korea, where President Yoon Suk-yeol has declared martial law. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov described the situation as alarming in a statement to Interfax.
South Korean authorities have suspended the functioning of the parliament, regional governments, and political parties. Military forces have clashed with protesters attempting to block their entry into the National Assembly complex, with military helicopters also spotted above the area.
In response, the National Assembly has voted to withdraw the martial law, while the military reportedly remains in a state of waiting for Yoon to lift the martial law.
