Italy's Inflation Rises Slightly in April
According to the preliminary report released by Italy's National Statistics Office (INE) on Wednesday, the annual inflation rate in Italy increased to 2% in April, up from 1.9% in March. This adjustment aligns with the forecasts made by financial analysts.
Key Drivers Behind the Inflation Increase
The uptick in inflation is primarily attributed to higher prices in regulated energy products, transport services, and unprocessed food. These sectors have shown significant growth, contributing to the overall inflation rate.
Monthly and Core Inflation Figures
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) witnessed a 0.2% increase month over month. Additionally, core consumer prices, which exclude energy and unprocessed food, rose by 2.1% on a yearly basis, indicating a broader trend of price increases beyond just the volatile sectors.
