HP India's Manufacturing Expansion
New Delhi: In a significant development, HP India has announced its plans to ramp up manufacturing within the country. This move is aligned with India's push towards finalizing a bilateral trade agreement with the US and leveraging the Rs 17,000-crore production-linked incentive (PLI) for IT hardware.

Doubling Down on Local Production
Ipsita Dasgupta, MD of HP India, revealed that the company is set to double its manufacturing output in India within the first year. "We are growing our manufacturing in India through PLI with Dixon. Every year, you'll see a proportional rise in the percentage of manufacturing here," she stated. The focus is on producing all-in-ones, desktops, and laptops locally.
Benefits of Making in India
Dasgupta highlighted the PLI incentives as a key enabler for this growth. "It's exciting to be part of India's ambition to be a significant player in the global value chain. Making more in India allows us to learn and adapt to the local manufacturing ecosystem," she added. HP aims to capitalize on the developing supplier ecosystem to make local manufacturing more cost-effective in the coming years.
Expanding Retail Presence
Beyond manufacturing, HP is also deepening its retail footprint in India with initiatives like 'HP Connect', targeting MSME clusters and household consumers in Tier 2 and Tier 3 towns.
