Taiwan's Urgent Call: Parliament Asked to Unfreeze $4.25 Billion Budget Amidst Constitutional Review

Government Seeks Quick Resolution to Budget Freeze

Taiwan's Cabinet Spokesperson Michelle Lee announced on Tuesday that the government is urging the Parliament to release T$138.1 billion ($4.25 billion) in frozen funds. This move comes as the administration seeks to alleviate the operational challenges faced by the public due to the budget freeze.

Constitutional Court Review and Local Government Funding Shift

In a detailed social media update, Lee highlighted the government's request for a constitutional court review of the budget approval. Additionally, the cabinet is addressing a controversial amendment that reallocates funds to local governments, aiming to ensure a fair distribution of resources.

Legislative Yuan's Role in Reducing Public Inconvenience

"The cabinet hopes the Legislative Yuan can unfreeze the entire budget swiftly to minimize the difficulties and inconveniences encountered by the public in their interactions with the administration," Lee stated, emphasizing the urgency of the matter.
