Taiwan's Cabinet Seeks Parliament Approval to Unfreeze $4.25 Billion Budget Amid Constitutional Review

Taiwan's Budget Unfreeze Request

In a significant move, Taiwan's Cabinet Spokesperson Michelle Lee announced on Tuesday the government's intention to request the Parliament to release T$138.1 billion ($4.25 billion) in frozen funds. This decision comes as the government seeks a constitutional court review of the budget and a controversial amendment that reallocates funds to local governments.

Urgent Appeal for Legislative Action

Lee emphasized the cabinet's hope for the Legislative Yuan to expedite the unfreezing process. "We urge the Legislative Yuan to act swiftly to unfreeze the entire amount, thereby alleviating the administrative challenges and inconveniences faced by the public," Lee stated in a social media post.
