Public sector Indian Bank has unveiled an ambitious plan to disburse Rs 20,000 crore to Self Help Groups (SHGs) across the nation in the current financial year. This initiative is part of a broader effort to empower women entrepreneurs at the grassroots level.

Mega SHG Credit Outreach Programme

In a significant move towards this goal, the bank recently conducted a 'Mega SHG Credit Outreach Programme' in Bhubaneswar. The event was graced by prominent figures including M Nagaraju, Secretary of the Department of Financial Services, Government of India, and the bank's MD and CEO Binod Kumar, alongside executive director Mahesh Kumar Bajaj.

Supporting Grassroots Women Entrepreneurs

As part of this national mission, 9,961 Self Help Groups were awarded sanction letters totaling Rs 509.91 crore, providing crucial financial support to women entrepreneurs. This effort is in line with the government's vision for 'Viksit Bharat 2047', focusing on inclusive growth and development led by women.
