US Inflation Sees a Notable Decline in March

The annual inflation rate in the United States decreased to 2.4% in March, down from February's 2.8%, according to the latest report from the Labor Statistics Bureau released on Thursday. On a monthly basis, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) experienced a slight decrease of 0.1%.

Energy and Food Prices Show Divergent Trends

Over the 12 months ending in March, the energy index saw a significant drop of 3.3%, with a monthly decrease of 2.4%. In contrast, food prices rose by 3% compared to the same period in 2024, with a monthly increase of 0.4%.

Core CPI Also Reflects a Downward Trend

The core CPI, which excludes the volatile food and energy sectors, increased by 2.8% year over year in March. This marks a 0.3 percentage point decline from February's figures. Month over month, the core CPI saw a modest rise of 0.1%.
