Vietnam's Strategic Approach to Global Integration
Vietnam is making significant strides in international economic integration, viewing it as a crucial pathway to connect with the global community and elevate its economy to world standards. Prime Minister Chinh highlighted this vision during the announcement of the 2024 FTA Index, emphasizing the country's active participation in global trade.
Commitment to Trade Liberalization
With 17 free trade agreements (FTAs) signed and implemented across more than 60 partners on five continents, Vietnam is demonstrating its commitment to trade liberalization, fair competition, and sustainable development. This effort underscores the nation's strategy to build an independent, self-sufficient economy while engaging proactively in global economic integration.
Challenges and Opportunities Ahead
Despite the progress, challenges such as limited local awareness, weak enterprise competitiveness, and inefficient FTA utilization persist. PM Chinh called for flexible and effective adaptation to maximize the benefits of FTAs, which are seen as vital for sustaining growth and improving Vietnam's global standing.
Future Directions
The government is set to optimize FTA advantages, strengthen international commitments, and explore new trade agreements. Businesses are encouraged to restructure markets and production, with the government pledging support through policy innovation and equal resource access.
