Unemployment Rate Holds Steady

The unemployment rate experienced a minimal shift, moving from 4.1% to 4.2%, with the number of unemployed individuals staying around 7.1 million.

Sector-Specific Job Gains and Losses

Healthcare leads the charge with an impressive addition of 54,000 jobs, closely followed by social assistance and retail trade, each contributing 24,000 new positions. Conversely, federal government employment saw a reduction of 4,000 jobs.

Wage growth was also noted, with average hourly earnings increasing by nine cents, or 0.3%, to $36.00, while the average workweek remained unchanged at 34.2 hours.
