Switzerland Sees a Dip in Unemployment Rate to 2.1% in March, Signaling Economic Resilience

Unemployment Rate Declines

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Switzerland has shown a promising decrease to 2.1% in March, with the number of unemployed individuals recorded at 132,569. This data, released by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) on Friday, marks a positive shift from the previous month.

Monthly and Annual Trends

While the month-on-month figures reveal a 2.7% increase in unemployment to 128,774, the youth unemployment rate tells a different story, decreasing by 3.1% to 11,712. However, on an annual basis, youth unemployment has surged by 23.2%.

Job Market Dynamics

The overall number of job seekers in Switzerland slightly decreased by 309 to 212,390 in March, maintaining the job seeker rate at 4.6%. Concurrently, the number of reported vacancies experienced a 5.6% rise from January to 45,530, albeit showing a 4.2% decrease compared to the same period in 2024.
