Leonardo S.p.A., in collaboration with Airbus SE and Thales Group, is setting the stage to introduce a European satellite alliance aimed at competing with Elon Musk's Starlink. CEO Roberto Cingolani shared this ambitious plan during a recent interview with CNBC.

The companies are currently evaluating the potential for synergy, market convenience, and antitrust compliance. Cingolani anticipates that the official announcement could be made within the next few months, marking a significant step forward in Europe's space ambitions.

Future Satellite Launches

Adding to the venture's momentum, Leonardo has announced plans to deploy 18 military satellites and 20 civil multi-sensor satellites into orbit by 2027 and 2028, further solidifying Europe's presence in the global satellite market.
