In a groundbreaking move, Uber Technologies Inc. and WeRide Inc. have announced a strategic partnership with Dubai's Road and Transport Authority (RTA) to introduce autonomous vehicle (AV) services to the city. This collaboration marks a significant step towards integrating AVs into the daily lives of Dubai's residents and visitors.
Strategic Goals and Vision
"This partnership is a cornerstone for Uber to make autonomous vehicles a reliable and accessible option for everyday transportation in Dubai, starting with WeRide as our inaugural technology partner," Uber stated. Mattar Al Tayer, RTA Director General, emphasized the project's alignment with Dubai's Self-Driving Transport Strategy, aiming for 25% of all journeys in the city to be autonomous by 2030.

The agreement includes the launch of pilot programs utilizing Uber's platform to connect passengers with AVs.
