Income Tax Offices to Stay Open for Last-Minute Filers
In an unprecedented move, the Income Tax Department has announced that its offices across India will remain open from March 29 to March 31, 2025. This decision is aimed at assisting taxpayers in completing any pending tax-related tasks before the fiscal year concludes on March 31.

Special Arrangements Amid Holidays
Despite the weekend and the observance of Eid-al-Fitr, which may coincide with Monday, the Income Tax offices will continue their operations. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has issued a directive to ensure all offices remain open to facilitate the completion of pending departmental work.
Deadline for Taxpayers
March 31, 2025, marks the final day for submitting updated Income Tax Returns (ITRs) for Assessment Year 2023-24. It is also the deadline for all government payments and settlements to be finalized within the current fiscal year.
RBI's Support for Taxpayers
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has also instructed banks involved in government business to remain open on March 31. Additionally, the RBI has arranged for special clearing operations across the country to ensure that government receipts and payments are properly accounted for.
