European Car Makers Sound Alarm: US Tariffs Could Backfire on Domestic Economy

European Automakers Warn of US Tariffs' Global Impact

The European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) has issued a stark warning regarding the potential repercussions of President Donald Trump's new 25% auto tariffs. According to the ACEA, these tariffs could not only harm global carmakers but also negatively affect US manufacturing sectors.

Call for Rethink Amid Rising Trade Tensions

Representing 16 major European automakers, the ACEA is urging Washington to reconsider the tariffs as trade tensions escalate. "The tariffs will have a domino effect," explained ACEA Director General Sigrid de Vries, highlighting that between 50% and 60% of vehicles manufactured by European companies in the US are destined for export markets.
