Meta Introduces Up to €13 Monthly Fee for Ad-Free Facebook and Instagram in Europe

Meta's New Ad-Free Subscription Model

Meta Platforms Inc. is set to revolutionize the user experience in Europe by introducing a monthly subscription fee of up to €13 for ad-free access to Facebook and Instagram on mobile devices, as reported by the Wall Street Journal.

Choosing Between Ads and Subscription

Under the proposed SNA (subscription no ads) plan, users will have the choice to continue using the platforms for free with personalized ads or opt for a paid, ad-free version. The subscription costs approximately €10 for desktop accounts and about €6 for each additional linked account, with mobile users facing a higher fee of around €13 due to app store commissions.

Regulatory Changes Prompt New Pricing Strategy

This move comes in response to European Union privacy regulations that restrict Meta's ability to display personalized ads without explicit user consent, pushing the company to explore alternative revenue streams.
