WTO Evaluates China's Challenge Against EU Duties on Electric Vehicles

WTO Reviews China's Request for Dispute Panel Over EU EV Duties

The World Trade Organization (WTO) has announced its consideration of China's request to establish a dispute panel. This panel would examine the European Union's imposition of duties on new battery electric vehicles (BEVs) from China, sparking a significant trade discussion.

China's Stance: China argues that the EU's measures violate the WTO's Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures and the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade 1994. The country is pushing for a fair resolution under international trade laws.

EU's Response: The European Union, however, stands firm on its decision, asserting that the duties are justified and fully compliant with WTO regulations. The EU also highlights that it has provided China with all necessary information during previous discussions, aiming for transparency in the dispute.
