Apple's Major Investment in China's Clean Energy Future
In a significant move towards sustainability, Apple Inc. has announced a substantial investment of 720 million yuan into a clean energy fund in China. This initiative was revealed by Apple CEO Tim Cook through a Weibo post, highlighting the company's commitment to renewable energy.

Cook emphasized that two-thirds of Apple's supply chain in China is already powered by renewable energy. This new investment aims to further the company's ambitious goal of achieving 100% renewable energy usage by 2030. The fund is expected to significantly contribute to China's grid by adding approximately 550,000 megawatt-hours of wind and solar capacity annually, with expectations for this figure to grow.
Building on Past Success
This initiative builds upon the success of the first China Clean Energy Fund launched in 2018. Apple COO Jeff Williams expressed pride in the collaboration with Chinese suppliers, stating, "Our suppliers in China are driving world-class advances in smart and green manufacturing. With the launch of the second China Clean Energy Fund, we're proud to deepen our collaboration with suppliers across China to drive innovation."
