Boeing India Engineering Technology Center Faces Downsizing

In a significant move, Boeing has laid off up to 180 employees at its Boeing India Engineering Technology Center (BIETC) located in Bengaluru. This decision is part of a global downsizing strategy aimed at streamlining operations. Dr Brendan Nelson, Boeing's senior VP & president of Boeing Global, has confirmed the layoffs to The Times of India.

With nearly 7,000 employees across India, the majority of whom are stationed at the BIETC in Bengaluru and Chennai, these layoffs represent a notable shift. The centers are known for their advanced aerospace work and contributions to Boeing's global engineering growth. Despite the layoffs, Boeing emphasizes India's critical role in its revival plans, with increased sourcing expected as aircraft production ramps up.
