In January, Canada's retail sector experienced a noticeable downturn, with sales decreasing by 0.6% from the previous month, as reported by Statistics Canada. This decline highlights the challenges faced by the retail industry, with significant drops observed in certain sectors.

The most pronounced decrease was in the sales of motor vehicles and parts, which fell by 2.6%. Similarly, the food and beverage sector saw a 2.5% decline.
