US Inflation Rate Dips to 2.8% in February
In a recent report by the Department of Labor Statistics, the United States has seen a slight decrease in its annual inflation rate, moving from 3% in January to 2.8% in February. This figure also falls just below market expectations.
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) experienced a modest increase of 0.2% from January to February. Breaking down the sectors, the energy index saw a 0.2% decline annually but a 0.2% increase monthly. Conversely, the food index rose both annually and monthly, by 2.6% and 0.2%, respectively.
When excluding food and energy, the core CPI showed a 3.1% increase compared to February 2024 and a 0.2% rise from January.
